Ordnance Ignition/Initiation has changed over time via improvements in the ordnance device and changes in the initiation system. The paper discusses the recent history of electrical ordnance initiation and provides high level comparison of devices and methods currently being used. The paper ends with a safety comparison of a conceptual high voltage EBW (Exploding Bridge Wire) system with a conceptual laser diode system.
