Introduction
Société d'Exploitation des Matériels Martin-Baker (SEM MB) has been tasked by the French Ministry of Defence to carry out a study of the ejection performance issues. Therefore, SEM MB and Martin-Baker Aircraft Company Limited (MBA) jointly conducted an investigation of five in-service seats with an extended crew mass range representative of the current French Air Force and Navy aircrew population.
This investigation was divided into two parts. The objective of the first part was to predict, by simulation, the change in ejection performance due to an extended mass range resulting from an extended crew mass range and an increased seat mass. The objective of the second part was to predict, by simulation, the increase in ejection performance of various potential seat design improvements.
