Advancements in RescueStreamer® Day / Night Visual Distress Signalling
Kirk Neprud
Rescue Technologies Corporation has vastly improved day / night visual distress signaling technologies through the integration of high intensity lighting capabilities. Working from our Self Deploying Infrared Streamer System, our engineering efforts have focused on reducing size and maintaining or increasing visual detection ranges during day and night survival situations. These engineering efforts have resulted in optimal products sized for the various persons carried, life raft/survival kit installed, and ejection seat mounted applications. Improvements in night detectability exceed the typical standards of one mile at 1500 feet. These improvements have also extended the signal duration from the typical twenty-four hour period to minimum durations exceeding thirty-six hours providing search and rescue assets with more time to accomplish critical search functions successfully. As with our original products launched in the early 1990's, day visual detection capabilities are indefinite in duration and provide search and rescue assets with optimally shaped unique targets designed to draw attention to and maintain survivor locations in land based and at sea operations.
